Head of Product Commercialization, Filament
Shilpi Kumar is head of product commercialization at Filament, a company that’s taking the internet of things (IoT), distributed systems, and the power of embedded computing beyond wearables and home automation to much higher levels, like end-to-end message encryption (Telehash), self-forming radio-mesh networks (TMesh), device identity and discovery (Blockname), and smart contracts and microtransactions (Blocklet). Filament is helping build what will be the world’s smart industrial-infrastructure by connecting existing machinery, equipment, and assets to a wireless sensor network. Their turnkey solution provides the hardware, mesh networking, data logging, and real-time API needed for most cloud-based implementations. Kumar’s background is in modular manufacturing and consumer hardware development. She’s also worked in venture capital, and sustainable city planning and architecture. She’s an alumni and board member of Venture for America, and attended Duke University.
